When you choose private pay, your mental health information is not shared with an insurance company for payment or review. That means there's no requirement for me assign a diagnosis simply to justify treatment, and your records remain between you and me, except where required by law or if you choose to share them with someone.
Private pay also gives you more control. Together, we decide what we're working on, how often we meet, and when therapy has accomplished what you hoped it would. There are no insurance rules dictating the pace or length of your care.
Many people choose private pay because they value discretion, flexibility, or simply want their mental health care to remain as private as possible.
