Welcome!
I am a person with lived experience in many areas. I experienced abuse/neglect as a child, homelessness in my early teens, and religious trauma throughout my young life. Teens and young adults who share these same experiences deserve a chance to build a stable, peaceful life.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed School Social Worker in the state of Colorado. I have extensive knowledge of community resources and value supporting clients in practical ways.
I have worked with teens and young adults full-time since 2011, with a focus on community resources, academic intervention, and social-emotional learning.
I am a foster/adoptive mom, adopting my daughter when she was 17 and the mom of a toddler. I have two rottweilers, a tiny chihuahua, ADHD, and anxiety. Every year I work to be a different and better person than the year before!
Learning
It’s important to me to keep learning. I listen to many different licensed mental health authors and content creators. I like to collect a variety of ideas - both from professionals and from ordinary people who live with different struggles and conditions.
I have training in victim’s advocacy, crisis response, CRAFT for substance use, and trust-based relational intervention.
I am interested in attachment theory, personality theory, and epigenetics (how our environment and experiences triggers our DNA).
Therapy Style
Everybody needs something different in order to grow. Because of this, it’s important to me that therapy is flexible. It has to work for you, or else it won’t be worth it.
It is important to me that you feel comfortable and accepted.
Ways I want to help:
Help you identify goals and move closer to them.
Help you get stronger and more confident.
Help you improve your self-awareness and your awareness of others.
Help you feel and regulate all kinds of emotions - like anger, shame, grief, emptiness, anxiety, joy, curiosity, love, and trust.
Help you find specific strategies and resources that work for you. I like to call this “anticipating yourself”.
